SDL localization roundtable in Boston – review

SDL held one of their localization best practice workshops in Boston last week. The series is designed to give localization professionals somewhere to meet peers and range from small roundtable discussions to larger affairs with speakers from within the localization world.

This event was one of the medium sized localization roundtables with guest experts from local companies Dassault and Pearson as well as two from SDL. There were around 25 attendees including localization services vendors, freelancers and localization professional from companies in and around Massachussets.

The discussions ranged in topic from what the group was seeing as a result of the current economic slowdown, how DITA is changing the face of localization of technical publications, a discussions led by Robbie Liotta on best practices in global support and by Lewis from Pearson on how to build a strategic business case for localization that will appeal to senior management.

The events are free of charge and over the next few months will be in Atlanta, Dallas, Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. Links to the events and the schedule can be found at SDL’s site
